Science Now reports on research showing that "tickling" a stopped heart might be just as effective as shocking it...:

"The standard treatment for cardiac arrest may make good television, but having up to 1000 volts pumped into your chest is a seriously painful treatment. Now scientists have discovered that a series of small electric shocks may be as effective at restoring the heart's beating as one large jolt. The new strategy has only been tested in beagles so far, but there's optimism it will also work in humans."

Apple users buy 61% more apps, paying 14% more per app.

I think there are a few possible reasons for this, having both an iPhone and Android phone.

1. I think the speed of the app discovery process and smoothness/clean-ness of the download install process on the iPhone make people 61% more willing to try out things on a whim.

2. I think people might pay more because the apps are a bit cleaner, slightly less spam, cleaner advertising (when there is advertising) and maybe even "slightly" better due to the policing by Apple. As an app developer, the policing is a pain, but on balance, it probably does benefit users, and I think it's showing up here in customers being willing to pay 14% more per app, on average.

Mashable says Spotify is launching tomorrow. I finally got my pre-launch invite a few days ago, but hadn't signed up yet (I've used Rhapsody for years). I suppose I should just wait and see what happens tomorrow. Wonder what impact this will have on Apple in terms of pay for subscription music? I asked Steve Jobs myself why they didnt launch this kind of service and he told me that consumers don't want it. (He said this about 3 years go... so maybe his thinking will change?) Seems like Apple is in the best position to launch something like this because they can just charge it to your phone--say they only sell it to iPhone customers. That'd mean that it cut less into iPod sales, because iPhone customers may be less likely to keep buying iPods anyway.

Amazon is creating an Android-driven tablet. Is this news, or just another tablet in the iPad vs. Everyone camp? The Kindle's are nice, but the things that make them nice are quite different from what you'd want in a tablet (the "digital ink", small form factor), etc. Great to see these giants of the industry (Amazon & Apple) going to head to head. The consumer (us!) is the winner :)

How to update your Facebook status via G + without any extension:

1. Access Facebook.
2. Go to http://facebook.com/mobile
3. Copy your email address unique.
4. Go to page Circles + Google
5. Add the e-mail from Facebook in a new circle (Hint, call the circle of "Facebook update")
6. When you want to publish something on Facebook, simply add the circle.
