Are not all residents of the U.S. something - Americans? Doesn't American history in and of itself include everything and everyone that has contributed to the creation, building, and preservation of the U.S.A.? Do we really need to micro-dissect history for specific 'group' contributions? How are historians and textbook publishers going to discern the sexual preferences and ethnic heritage of historical contributors?
